🌈 ADHD & Me

My Beautifully Busy Brain – My Story, My Journey, My Why πŸ’œ

Welcome to ADHD & Me – a little corner of the world where different brains are celebrated, being yourself is encouraged, and nobody has to feel like they're facing it all alone. 🌈

Hi, I'm Laura! πŸ‘‹πŸ’•

In 2025, at the age of 35, I finally received an answer to a question I didn't even realise I'd been asking for most of my life.
I have ADHD. 🧠

For over 20 years, I'd been told I was struggling with anxiety and depression. I'd spent years trying to understand why my brain seemed to work differently from everyone else's. Why everyday things sometimes felt ridiculously difficult, why my emotions could feel so overwhelming, and why I could be incredibly organised one minute and surrounded by complete chaos the next!

I'd spent so much of my life wondering why I couldn't just be like everyone else.
I was given labels, but I never felt like anyone was looking at the bigger picture.
And then, at 35, everything started to make sense.

It wasn't that I wasn't trying hard enough. My brain simply worked differently.
Getting my ADHD diagnosis didn't magically fix everything. In fact, in some ways, it opened up a whole new rollercoaster of emotions.
There was relief, excitement and finally some understanding. But there was also sadness, frustration and a lot of wondering about what life might have looked like if somebody had recognised my ADHD sooner.

What if I'd understood myself at school? What if I'd had the right support? What if I'd spent those 20-plus years learning to work with my brain rather than constantly fighting against it?

But here's the thing…

I can't change the last 20 years. What I can do is use everything I've experienced to make a difference to somebody else's next 20. ❀️

πŸ’œ Why I Started ADHD & Me
ADHD & Me was born from a very personal place.
I wanted to turn years of confusion, frustration, challenges, discoveries and those wonderful little lightbulb moments into something positive.
Something that might help somebody else feel understood.
Something that might make another person realise they're not alone.
And perhaps something that might help someone recognise themselves a little sooner than I did.
I've always had a creative brain. It's colourful, busy, full of ideas, occasionally chaotic and rarely switches off! 🎨🌈
So I decided to put that creativity to good use.
Through ADHD & Me, I want to create a growing collection of resources, planners, journals, stationery, publications and honest conversations that help people understand their ADHD, embrace their strengths and navigate the challenges that come with it.
Not boring, clinical-looking resources that feel like another chore on the never-ending to-do list.
But bright, colourful, practical, relatable and genuinely useful things that make life that little bit easier β€” and hopefully bring a smile along the way!

🌈 More Than Just a Diagnosis
One of the biggest things I've learnt is that ADHD isn't just about being distracted, forgetting things or having too much energy.
It can affect your emotions, relationships, confidence, motivation, organisation, self-esteem and so many other parts of everyday life.
But it can also come with incredible creativity, passion, empathy, curiosity, determination and the ability to think outside the box.
I'm still learning about my ADHD every single day.
I still have days when my brain feels like it has 47 tabs open, three songs playing and absolutely no idea why I walked into the kitchen! πŸ˜‚
There are days when everything clicks and I feel unstoppable, and others when the simplest task feels like climbing a mountain.
And that's part of my journey too.

ADHD & Me isn't about having all the answers. It's about learning, sharing, growing and figuring things out together.

✨ My Hope for ADHD & Me
If this little project helps just one person feel less alone, one person understand their brain a little better, or one person realise that being different doesn't mean being less capable, then it will have been worth it.

Whether you've recently been diagnosed, have lived with ADHD for years, are exploring whether you might have it, or simply want to understand somebody you care about, you're welcome here.

There is no judgement, no expectation to have everything figured out and absolutely no requirement to have your life perfectly organised!
Just honesty, understanding, creativity, a splash of rainbow colour and plenty of real-life ADHD moments.
Because your brain doesn't have to work like everybody else's to be brilliant. 🌈
Thank you for being here and becoming part of my journey.
With love, colour and a beautifully busy brain,
